About & method
DigRoblox exists because of a specific, fixable problem: most Roblox audio ID lists on the web are substantially dead, and none of them tell you which entries still work.
Why so many IDs are dead
In 2022 Roblox changed how uploaded audio is handled. Audio longer than six seconds that a user uploads is now private by default, so it will not play in another creator’s experience. Lists written before that change — and lists copied from those lists since — are full of IDs that return silence. Nobody went back to re-check them.
How verification works
Candidate IDs are enumerated from the Roblox Creator Store and then queried against Roblox’s own public item-details endpoint. An ID is treated as working only when Roblox returns it with an approved asset hash and public visibility. An ID that Roblox declines to return at all is recorded as dead and excluded from every list on this site.
Each record carries the timestamp of its last successful check, shown on the track page. Verification is re-run on a rolling schedule, so the data gets fresher over time rather than decaying.
Where the dead-ID numbers come from
Two different measurements get confused easily, so to be precise about both. Candidates here are enumerated from the Roblox Creator Store, and the Creator Store only lists assets that are already live — so almost nothing in our own harvest comes back dead. That number says nothing about the state of the web, and we do not present it as if it did.
The dead rate that matters is measured separately: take IDs that are actually circulating on other sites and test them. In our samples of widely-republished pre-2022 IDs, roughly half no longer play. You can reproduce that on any list you like with the ID checker.
What is excluded, and why
- Dead or private IDs. They are tracked internally so we can report the dead rate, but never listed as usable.
- Individual sound effects. Nobody searches for one specific footstep, so sound effects belong in collections rather than getting a page each.
- Production-library bulk. Large licensed catalogues are browsable by genre and album, but a library cue with a formulaic name is not something anyone looks up by title, so it does not get its own page.
